Analysis of the open source industrial network solutions based on Ethernet technology

Abstract


There are many varieties of Ethernet in the industry and beyond it. Thanks to integration in microcontrollers of Ethernet interfaces networking for devices of industrial automation became more and more universal. This paper shows how popular industrial networks such as EtherNet/IP, Ethernet Powerlink, EtherCAT, SERCOS III, utilize the full or modified standard Ethernet for the execution of the tasks in real time and compares the applied solution.
